Unexplained Infertility

A couple is diagnosed with unexplained (idiopathic) infertility if the underlying cause of infertility cannot be identified with conventional methods.

Because the cause of infertility is unclear, different treatment options can be attempted. IVF and ICSI tend to be the most effective options for treating unexplained infertility, because they bypass most stages of natural conception. However, they are also the most expensive ones. Depending on the circumstances of the couple, less expensive options such as timed intercourse, lifestyle changes, controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) and intrauterine insemination (IUI) can be attempted first.
